XSTO Mobility Robot Wins iF Design Award: Here's Why

On 26th February, XSTO and its M4 Mobility Robot has been named a 2025 iF DESIGN AWARD WINNER. With its innovative design and outstanding all-terrain performance, the self-balancing mobility device was selected from nearly 11,000 entries worldwide to receive this prestigious honour in Germany.
Often referred to as the “Oscars of the design world”, the German iF Design Award is one of the most prestigious honours in internationally recognised industrial design. Judged by a panel of over 140 international design experts, entries are evaluated across multiple criteria including innovation, functionality, differentiation, and sustainability.
Winning the iF Design Award marks a significant milestone for XSTO. It not only acknowledges the visual appeal of the Mobility Robot but also celebrates its practical functionality and user-focused design. This recognition reinforces that XSTO’s innovations are not only aesthetically impressive but also deliver meaningful benefits to those who rely on them most.
Key Features
Automatic Self-Balancing
Powered by a proprietary intelligent control platform, the robot maintains continuous self-balancing, constant speed, and full power. It can smoothly start and stop—even on slopes—ensuring a stable and secure ride at all times.
Interchangeable Front Wheels
A versatile front-wheel system allows users to choose wheel designs suited to various travel needs. The three-step quick-change mechanism can be operated single-handedly, without assistance.
Adjustable Seat Height and Tilt
The seat height is adjustable within a predefined range to accommodate various table heights—ideal for work, daily life, and social situations. The seat can tilt up to 16° forward and recline up to 25°, with smooth adjustments in both directions for maximum user comfort and support.
Foldable and Detachable Design
Engineered for portability, the mobility robot can be quickly disassembled into four parts without the need for tools—making it easy to fit into a car boot. It also features one-touch folding via a five-link mechanism, and foldable armrests and backrest to minimise storage space.
